Love it or hate it, the Apple TV is still one of the best streamers on the market, but it always had an Achilles heel in the form of its oppressive Siri Remote that came with a particularly annoying touchpad. Recently Apple announced a new version of Apple TV 4K that comes with a new and much more logical remote.
Support for high frame rate also in HDR and color calibration for TV
The new Apple TV 4K comes with an A12 Bionic processor, which is supposed to show improvements in processing and graphics processing performance, but other than that, it allows the Apple Streamer to display HDR content at a fast frame rate, so you can watch content at 60 frames per second, with HDR and -Dolby Vision. AirPlay, Apple’s streaming standard, has also been upgraded so that videos taken on the iPhone 12 Pro can be projected on the Apple TV in maximum quality.
In one of the coolest features we’ve seen recently, Apple wants to help you calibrate your TV, or at least your Apple TV. To do this, you can simply take your iPhone, bring it closer to the screen and the light sensor in it will calibrate the contrasts and colors that the Apple TV radiates, so that according to Apple, you will get the best projection quality.
It’s time for a new remote
The feature we have been waiting for the most is without a doubt the new Siri Remote. Instead of just a touchpad, this time it comes with clickable navigation buttons so you can switch more accurately between titles and menus. If you want, you can still use touch gestures to navigate quickly. And in the slightly more retro section, you can use the outer circle of the touchpad with the same gesture that was used by you to navigate the iPod to move back and forth the content you are watching.
